Creativity and Personalitys connection with Manga.

I believe that since i started reading manga and watching anime my creativity and imagination have become much better for instance as i said before now i enjoy drawing which had never interested me in the past as well as writing which again i wasn't very good at so i didn't really make a point of doing it and finally with the AMV's i had no idea how to work windows movie maker but still because i was determined i managed to create an AMV. I believe that because i got into Manga and Anime my personalty changed and thus my identity shifted as well. Because of this change i wanted to try out other things which i had previously had no interest in to see if they would have the same effect which made others see my outer self differently and made them change there view of who i was and how they thought i should act. Because of this change i started to work on my inner self and decided to change how i perceived myself and my surrounding's which lead me to meet new and interesting people who previously i hadn't thought to meet before. Because of this i even started going to events specifically for Manga and Anime fans most recently the October Expo in London which i even dressed up for. In conclusion i believe that Manga, Anime and other related topics have directly affected who i am now and how I'm acknowledged by other's.

How preference can create expectations.

Having a particular preference be it genre or just style can label how far i would go to express my appreciation and the importance of manga to my personal self. Which could directly affect how I'm perceived by others. For instance as i said previously reading Violent manga could give others the impression that i have a darker side and that reading romantic manga could show me as having a soft side. But considering the multiple genre's i have as favorite's it could be argued that i have a complicated and complex hidden self and that my identity is created through these multiple aspects to create who i am and how others directly perceive me. Another reason i believe in this way of thinking comes from the quote "Acting is a question of absorbing other people's personalities and adding some of your own experience" from Jean Paule Sarte. All though this quote says "acting" i still believe that this connects with how this perception can combine with the way i think others may percieve me as at times i act differently to appear different the only change i have from others is my personal identity and how things that have occured in my life have shaped my personalty into the way it is. In refrence i believe that a great many Jean Paule Sarte quotes have great meaning and can connect with various aspects of my persoanlity and perspective.

Fan Fiction.

Manga has also given me many idea's on my own story's which like the AMV's can create a great sense of pride upon completion of ones story. For instance the first fan fiction story i did was for Black Lagoon and when i finished that i got a couple of reviews from the guy who's i had read previously before trying to attempt my own and upon his feedback it gave me a great sense of power to have the person who made me want to write praise me over a good story and because of that my first written piece has now got great value to me because he praised it. Even though my other written piece's also give me sense of value towards them that will always be the most important one to me because he thought so highly of it.

JM1681 (James May,not that James May) is the person who represents what i what to be like when it comes to writing story's he's like the equivalent of my find i what to be able to draw like. The reason i believe that i want to be like these two is not only because of there talents its because of how there identity's can be seen through there love of what they do which is something that i look up to and what to have myself as well.

Amv's.

Amv's are another product that gives me a sense of value seeing something you create as the end product gives a great sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately i had to make an extremely quick one as my others had been deleted so here's a quick attempt at a haruhi Amv with the music track Lacie. Sadly i can't get unsubbed so please ignore the first bit's writing.

Like i was saying before, making Amv's give me a great sense of accomplishment and because they create that feeling it makes there value to the Creator more important. Amv's can also give the creator a sense of power for instance there are competitions to see who can make the best there are some which come out very professional. For instance the reason i wanted to make amv's is because of a guy called Hacker1200 who did a very professional amv of Haruhi Suzumiya with a song called "She Was Dead" by "SR-71" which came forth (i think) in a competition of over 600 people. Because of how good it looked i wanted to create something that could match it which gave me a goalwhich could be interpreted as saying i have a identity that revolves around competition.

Manga and Art.

The manga that i have is not only judged on its entertainment value, it has a higher meaning than just that. For instance reading manga is what made me so interested in art and drawing which makes it even more important to me as that was the start of the more artistic form of my personal self. For instance this picture that i drew myself was the first picture that i drew which i thought was any good. Drawing that picture gave me a sense of accomplishment and power the fact that i had maneged to draw something like that made me even more determined to create better and more interesting drawings

Another reason that i became so determined to try our drawing was the encouragement i got from a friend of mine who also enjoys manga and because of how good at drawing he was it encouraged me to try and be as good as he was. The fact that he could finish a picture so quickly also made me think of him as a representation of what i wanted to accomplish. For instance it took me a week and a half to finish my picture above but it took him only a couple of hours to finish this.

Having someone like this who has the ability that i want gives me a sense of power knowing that there always there if you need them makes me think of my how i think of this person as a representation of what i want to become. but for instance even though i respect and admire his ability there are others that i also want to be like for instance with digital artwork such as this
which starts of as a drawing and then gets digitally modified to create this end product.

Manga's and Anime's Representation.

Manga's are represented in a wide selection of ways for instance we have child's which usually evolves around comedy and fantasy, then we have teen which is more romance, action and fighting and then we get older teen which commonly revolves around violence, fiction, romance and action.

Anime's on the other hand regardless of age is commonly action, romance and fiction with the age rating they just become more graphic instead of changing genre. for instance child we have Inuyasha, teen we have Vampire Knight and then older teen we have anime's such as Black Lagoon and Hellsing.

Anime's like these are on the higher end of the age rating because of there violent content but even with that there representation is really good because of the shear amount of people who enjoy them myself included.
But even with the basic age rating many fans have there favorites inside of all different age ratings as this shows a variety and shows more openness towards the varying genre's. I myself have favorites in all category's most revolving around gun fights and violence because unlike in manga anime can capture and create the atmosphere when it comes down to fights much better than manga can.

Viewing Manga through the Johari Window.

Through the Johari Window we can tell various aspects of how my identity is shaped by Manga and how others may view my personality through it for instance Hellsing which is a fairly violent manga (example page shown right) could give the impression to others that my hidden self could be fairly dark and violent.

Whereas for example in Bloody Kiss which is a Romantic/Supernatural, Comedy (example page shown right) people could get the impression that my hidden self is gentle and kind. Through these, people around me could get ether impression of my identity and create judgements of what they expect me to be like and what my personality should be like. So looking at my taste in manga people could get certain impressions and label me with a stereotype and believe that that is my hidden self.

Even so with these stereotypical views that others could label me with it is entirely passable that these views perceived by others could give me the chance to find out more about my blind self.
